Charlottetown Competitive Sports scene
Charlottetown has some great opportunities to watch somebody ELSE sweat it out, with some top-level competitive athletes.
PEI Rocket This team plays in the Quebec Junior Major Hockey League, against teams in Quebec and Acress the Maritimes (including St John's, Saint John, Moncton, Halifax, Sydney and Bathurst. Games are played in the Charlottetown Civic Center at 6 Kensington Road, (902) 629-6625.
Charlottetown Jr Abbies. This team is Charlottetown's team in the Maritime Jr A Hockey League, and represents the ambitions of all city residents. They play at the MacLauchlan Arena at 49 Water St, and you can phone (902) 629-6600 for tickets.
University of PEI Panthers. The UPEI's teams are all call "Panthers". The University fields teams in the sports of Basketball, Volleyball, Hockey, Soccer, Swimming, Field Hockey, and Rugby, which play other Universities across the Maritimes. 902-566-0627.
Charlottetown Driving Park. The Charlottetown Driving Park has offered exciting harness races in 1889. Horse racing enthusiasts can take in the races in an enclosed grandstand, sample fine dining, even wager on races simulcast from other tracks. The prestigious Gold Cup and Soaucer Race has been run in mid-August since 1959 and is the highlight of the Maritimes summer racing season. (902) 892-6844
Charlottetown Yacht Club. Founded in 1938, the Charlottetown Yacht Club is located on one of the most scenic points of the Charlottetown waterfront with a panoramic view of the Harbour. The club hosts Charlottetown Race Week in the middle of July each year. phone 902 892-9065
