There are several major areas for industry in Charlottetown and PEI:
- Borden-Carleton Business Park
Newly constructed in 1997, and located immediately adjacent to the Confederation Bridge.
This well maintained park has a 50,000 sq foot manufacturing service centre and a 10,000 sq foot small business centre rented in configurations of 1,500 to 2,500 square feet. New trucking and warehousing facilities are also available.
- Charlottetown Airport Authority
Located only 5 km (3 miles) from downtown, on the Charlottetown Airport, off Brackley Point Road and 0.5 km north of the Arterial By-Pass. The 55-acre site has lot sizes from 0.8 acres to 8.9 acres and provides tenants with access to air cargo (with direct access from 5 airside lots).
- Cornwall Business Park
Strategically located off the Trans Canada Highway, on the Confederation Bridge side of the City of Charlottetown, just five minutes west of the city. This 40-acre business park has several manufacturing operations (fibre glass fabrication and vinyl window plant), and offers various sizes of development lots.
- Gateway Village
Gateway Village is a 30-acre retail and tourism development with a circa 1860 architectural theme.
- Kensington Industrial Park
Located between the cities of Summerside and Charlottetown, Kensington is considered the agricultural hub of central Prince Edward Island. The 40-acre park serves firms providing products and professional services to the agricultural community, and houses the provincially-run Potato Services Centre and is beside a major boat-building operation. The park is fully serviced with municipal water/sewer, three phase power and fibre connections.
- Kinkora Area Business Centre
The central rural agricultural community.of Kinkora has this business centre with finished office and commercial space, in sizes from 500 to 3,000 square feet.
- Slemon Park Industrial Park
Located on the north side of Route # 2, only 5 kilometres from the City of Summerside and 20 kilometres from the Confederation Bridge. The 1500 acres park (of which 500 acres are currently occupied) is dedicated to companies in aviation, aerospace, diversified manufacturing, commercial and light industries. Current businesses include Atlantic Turbines International Inc., Honeywell Aerospatiale Inc., Testori Americas Corporation and Wiebel Aerospace Inc. Slemon Park's airport is a fully serviced Transport Canada approved airport.
- Souris Food Park
The 48-acre Souris Food Park is home to the international food products firms of AgraWest (a subsidiary of Idaho Pacific) and Babineau Fisheries (a division of Polar Foods International Inc.). This site offers large development lots and on-site waste treatment facilities.
- Strait Crossing Fabrication Yard
- Stratford Business Park
This newly constructed 28 acre development is focused on technology related firms. It is located off the Trans Canada Highway in the rapidly developing Town of Stratford. Only a 5-kilometres from downtown Charlottetown, this development has already attracted a medical equipment manufacturer and the Prince Edward Island Medical Society.
- Summerside Industrial Park
This well-established 34 acre light/medium business park is located in the commercial hub of western Prince Edward Island, within close proximity to the Trans Canada Highway. Home to a diverse range of manufacturing operations, the Summerside Business Park has fibre optic connections and is home to a newly constructed call centre. Lease space for office or production space is from 2,000 to 14,000 square feet.
- Bloomfield Business Park
This new 40-acre business park is located on the Western Highway close to the communities of O'Leary, Alberton and Tignish, in the heart of some of the Island's most productive farming and fishing areas. The central location has attracted the McCain Fertilizer Co. and a John Deere farm equipment supplier.
- West Royalty Industrial Park (WRIP)
This 100-acre development is a mature and well maintained light/medium industrial park located off the Trans Canada Highway at the western entrance to the City of Charlottetown. Fully serviced business lots, with both three phase power and fibre optic connections are available as well as lease space ranging in size from 1,500 to 33,000 square feet. It is home to 47 businesses employing 1500 people in diverse manufacturing and service operations. Recently a number of biomedical and information technology firms have been located here, including. Watts Communications, Diagnostic Chemicals Limited and On-Line Support.
